Vatapá de Fruta Pão
"A permanent feature of Berlin’s Afro-Brazilian music scene for years: Vatapá de Fruta Pão, named after a speciality from Salvador de Bahia, made from bread, fish, Dendé oil, nuts, seafood and African spices."
(Haus der Kulturen der Welt, June 2014)
Vatapa is a fusion of different tastes and elements of various origins. Its music produces an intense flavour : it blows fresh and strong like the wind on the ocean and is rich and juicy like a tropical fruit !
Vatapà de Fruta Pão includes guitar and male voice (Arnaldo Prete), female back vocals, sax ténor and soprano (Joseph Carpentier), flute (Raina Gielge), Peter Beford (e-bass), Brasilian percussions and drums (Zito Ferreira,Juninho Quebradera and Peter Kuhnsch).
Vatapà performs in duo, trio, quartet, quintet.
Vatapà's repertoire travels from Brazilian Northeast to the streets of Sao Paolo and the beaches of Rio, either acoustic, smooth and jazzy, either funky and african-rooted.
Its fits in sophisticated lounge ambiances as much as in dancing parties and outdoor events.
